MANSFIELD- Paul Anthony Schmittag, 85 of Mansfield passed away on Monday, February 9, 2015 at his home. Paul had a life well-lived. He was born on January 16, 1930 in Jerseyville, IL. the son of Anthony F. and Emma T. Groppel Schmittag. Surviving is his wife, Frances Schmittag; daughter, Paula Ann Swain and her husband, Shawn of Edmonds, WA; a son, Robert Schmittag of Herron, IL; two step-sons, Ronald Morrow and his wife, Pamela of Farmersville, IL, and Michael Morrow of Bellflower, IL; nine grandchildren; and 24 great grand-children. Paul is preceded in death by his late wife, Helen Humphrey, and his parents. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Paul served our country from 1948-1952 in the Korean Conflict. A visitation will be held from 10:00- 11:00am on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Mansfield United Methodist Church, 200 East Illinois Street, Mansfield, IL 61854. A service will follow at 11:00am. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Champaign. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Pauls honor to the Mansfield Volunteer Fire Department, the Mansfield Methodist Church, or the Nazarene Church of Mahomet.
