Paul A. Wise

Oakwood- Paul Alan Wise, 56, of Oakwood passed away at 9:40 AM on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. He was born on January 27, 1954 in Danville, IL to Albert and Vera May Grimes Wise. He married Brenda Schlueter on December 16, 1972 in Royal, IL. She survives. Also surviving are son Dale (Amy) Wise; daughter Deanna (Jeremy) Wise-Frerichs; mother Vera May Wise; grandchildren Emily Wise, Cameron Wise, Abby Frerichs, and Aleta Frerichs; brother Wayne (Janice) Wise; and mother-in-law Aleta Schlueter. He was preceded in death by his father Albert and father-in-law Martin Schlueter. Paul had been a farmer for all of his life, was a member at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Royal, and also served as President on the Oakwood Fire Protection Board. He was a jack-of-all trades, and was always willing to help whoever needed it at the drop of a hat. He also enjoyed spending time in the warm weather of Florida and volunteering his time at kids sporting events. Paul loved his children and grandchildren, and would never miss one of their ballgames, no matter what else was going on. A service to celebrate the life of Paul Wise will be held at 10 AM on Monday, November 22, 2010 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Royal, IL. Pastor Jay Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Royal. Visitation will be held from 3-7 PM on Sunday, November 21 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Memorials may be made to Pauls family for distribution to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Armstrong and Oakwood FFA Clubs.
