Patty Downing

WESTVILLE - The spirit of Patty Downing, 44, was set free at 7:34am, Sunday, May 6th, 2007, to join her loved ones in heaven. She was born Patty Jean Irby on September 26th, 1962, in Terre Haute, IN, to Joseph and Karen (Stewart) Irby. Patty was recently married on February 23rd, 2007, to Bob Downing. He survives. Also surviving are: Kari Wakeland & Aaron Wakeland, her children from a previous marriage to Thomas Wakeland; her father, Joseph Irby; her sister, Penny Pribble; her brothers, Jamie Irby & Ryan Irby; her Aunt Debbie Grimes and her children; her step-children, Leslie Cavenaile (Downing) & Brian Downing; her nephews, Jordan, Shane, Kendall, Jakob; her niece, Rachel; her step grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, and her special friend, Jeanne Franklin. Patty was preceded in death by her mother-Karen Tinder, stepfather-Bill Tinder, her maternal grandparents, her paternal grandparents, and her nephew-Christopher Deffenbaugh. Patty worked as a Postal worker and enjoyed meeting the many friends and co-workers in her job and on her routes. She with husband Bob enjoyed and held dear her encounters with everyone who came in to Bobs Pumphouse and those who worked for them. Wed like to send a very special thank you to Chuck Morton for his service and friendship. Chuck was loved very much by both Bob and Patty. We wish to send our sorrow and condolences at his passing in this tragic accident. Patty loved the outdoors, nature, and gardening. Patty was a terrific cook and enjoyed preparing meals for friends and family. Most of all, Patty adored her children. She was a terrific mother and treasured every second with Kari & Aaron. Patty had the ability to make everyone near her feel like they were her best friend. The many people whose lives she touched will never forget her. A celebration of Pattys life will be held at 3:00pm, Friday, May 11th, 2007, Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home at 200 E West Street, Georgetown, IL. Rev. James Blue will officiate. Visitations will be held from 11:00am to 3:00pm and also from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on Thursday, May 10th, 2007, at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the trust fund at First National Bank of Catlin in Georgetown for her children, Kari & Aaron Wakeland.
