Patsy Joyce Cox, 66, of Danville, passed into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urbana. She was born on May 24, 1944 in Bowling Green KY, the daughter of Elbert and Ida Newton. Both are deceased. On June 27, 1959, Patsy married Joseph M. Cox of Leitchfield, KY, until his passing on September 20, 1991. Survivors include five children to this union, Sue (Larry) Weegar of Danville, Arvil (Lisa) Cox of Danville, Wendy (Bill) Kirchner of Danville, Joseph Jr. (Shannon) Cox of Veedersburg, IN, and Kevin Cox of Danville. Her six grandchildren, Jonathan and Matthew Cox of Danville, Benjamin and Hannah Cox, of Veedersburg, IN, Billy Kirchner of Maine, Dorie Newton of Danville, and her two great grandchildren, Tera Morton, and Deven Newton also survive her. Her five sisters, Barbara Hensel, Wanda Horton, Peggy Deichmiller, Sandra McCrady Nancy Farrow, and her brother, John D. Newton.Patsy's special friend, Charles Rupert, and many nieces, nephews and friends will also miss her dearly. In addition to her parents and husband, Joe, her brothers, Glenn Newton, Charles Newton and Elbert Newton Jr. preceded Patsy in death. She will be greatly missed by her family, her Sterling Christian Church family and friends. She enjoyed her Bible study group at the Valley View Heights apartments where she lived. She loved the Lord and would praise him to anyone who would listen. She enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music. A Celebration of the Life of Patsy Cox will begin at 6:00pm on Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home, located at 3940 N. Vermilion St. in Danville with Pastor Gary Johnson officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4pm-until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Private family burial will take place on Monday, January 17, 2011.
