Cayuga, Ind. - Patsy Ann Barton, 88, of rural Cayuga, passed away at 9:55 a.m. EDT Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

She was born January 24, 1934 in Ridge Farm, Illinois the daughter of the late Lee and Myra (Kunkle) Shields.

Patsy married the love of her life, James John Barton on February 12,1956 in Ridge Farm, Illinois. He preceded her in death on August 12, 2003.

Survivors include her daughter: Penney (Scott) Carpenter of Cayuga, Indiana; four grandchildren: Charlene (Heather) Snavely-Walters of Mount Sterling, Kentucky; Colby (Luke) Nelson of Marshall, Illinois; Colton Barton of Washington, Indiana and Clayton Barton of Clinton, Indiana; two great-grandchildren: Austin Walters and Westen Nelson, and her beloved dog: Precious.

Patsy was preceded in death by her step-dad: Terrence Walthall; son: Terry Barton on August 25, 2003, and special friend: Jerry Hoskins.

Patsy was a homemaker. She was a 1953 graduate of Ridge Farm High School. Her memberships included the Royal Neighbors, Perrysville Chapter #302 O.E.S. and the Illiana Homemakers where she won numerous awards at the open class for her baking. She also enjoyed making Christmas candy and canning with her family.

The family would like to extend a special 'THANK YOU' to Patsy's caregiver Katie Persinger.

Celebration of Life: 4 to 7 p.m. EDT Friday, June 24, 2022 at the Cayuga Community Center, 105 South Logan, Cayuga, Indiana 47928. Inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Ridge Farm, Illinois. Instead of flowers, the family request that you take a love one out to lunch. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana is assisting the family with arrangements.
