Patti Jo McDaniel, 89, of Olivet passed away on September 24, 2025, with her daughter by her side. Patti was born (Patricia Jo Anne Patchett) on July 9, 1936, she is the daughter of Lynn and Wilma Patchett, both of Sidell, IL. Patti married the love of her life, Donald McDaniel, on August 13, 1954. Don and Patti shared the next 63 years together, before his passing in 2018.
Together, Don and Patti had three sons, Randy, Rick and Rod. They also had a daughter Kala Jo (Mike Galey) that doted on Patti and provided care and assistance at the Rocky River Ranch for several years. Patti is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Richard Patchett and son Rick McDaniel.
Patti was very talented at everything that she did. She was an excellent Cook/Baker. She was a seamstress that could make anything. Her sewing and crafting were not only for her family, but the entire community also enjoyed Patti’s talents. Patti was recognized as best in show at county fairs for the beautiful quilts that she made. Patti started the annual Christmas in the Pines tradition many years ago, which grew into many vendors participating in the Georgetown Holiday Gathering every year displaying crafts, antiques and baked goods. As busy as Patti was, she was also an avid reader. She read thousands of books over the years.
For those that have seen Patti’s home, flower gardens and the grounds at Rocky River Ranch it is evident how much time Patti spent (enjoying every minute) making it beautiful. When Patti was no longer able to maintain the property, Mike and Kala ensured that the grounds, flowers and home remained as Patti would want it to be.
Patti will not only be remembered for her countless talents but for the immeasurable love, support and commitment she shared with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by her children, Randy, Rod and Kala Jo (Mike Galey); Her grandchildren, Parker Winland, Alec Winland, Emilee (Preston) Neubert and Cameron Winland; her great granddaughter, Margot Stella Neubert. She is also survived by her sister Sue (Fred) Ellis and several nieces and nephews.
Patti’s family cannot begin to thank the staff and care givers at Villas of Holly Brook Assisted Living & Memory Care for the love, kindness and support for Patti over the past eighteen months. Also, a heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Transitions Care.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and laid to rest with Don. Please share fond memories, condolences, and pictures with Patti’s family on her Tribute Wall at www.sunset funeralhome.com.
