Patricia Jumps

Patricia Jumps, 90, passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2021, in her home surrounded by loved ones in Bismarck, IL. She was born on February 28, 1931, the daughter of William and Helen (Mauck) Rose in Danville, IL. Patricia is preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Jumps, who passed on August 13, 2016; her parents; brother-in-law, Alva Devore; and son-in-law, Les Riggs. She leaves behind two children, Melody Riggs and Mark Jumps; grandchildren, Michelle (Ben) Walden, Becky Riggs, and Patty (Brandon) Kastl; three great grandchildren, Andrew Walden, Sydney Kastl, and Oliver Kastl; as well as a sister-in-law, Evelyn Devore. After High School Patricia took a job as a switch board operator for Illinois Power. She married Samuel Jumps on June 7, 1952, in Danville, IL. Patricia was a talented pianist. She played the piano at the Farmers Chapel Church, Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel, and the Kentucky Briensberg Baptist Church. She was the Room Mother at the Bismarck Grade School, Cub Scout Den Mother, volunteer at St. Elizabeth Hospital, member of the Missionary Church Circle at Farmers Chapel, and taught Bible School. After Patricias husband, Sam, retired they moved to Gilbertsville, Kentucky for 24 years but ultimately moved back to Illinois in 2010 to be closer to family. Patricia enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. During her free time, she liked to watch The Lawrence Welk Show, watch musicals, or play the piano. She will be greatly missed by her family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Officiating will be Tony Goss. Burial will be in Walnut Corner. Visitation will be held just prior to service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made in Patricias name to Shriners Hospital for Children or St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. The family requests everyone in attendance to please wear a mask.
