Patricia Gritten, age 71, of Danville went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2007. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a friend who believed in friendship for life. Patricia was born in Wichita, Kansas, but moved to the Danville area while still in School. She attended Catlin High School in Catlin, IL and graduated from Covington High School in Covington, IN. Pat was an avid reader who worked for many years as the librarian at the Catlin Public Library and helped others become avid readers as well, with her broad knowledge of books and reading. She was also active in many civic and religious organizations within the Danville community. She was a member of the Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Danville. Pat was born on May 20, 1936. She is preceded in death by her mother: Leland Smith, her father: John Smith, and her adoptive father: Joseph Gasser. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Albert Junior Gritten of Danville; and their three children: Reverend Albert James Gritten and his wife, Kimberly of Humboldt, TN; Deborah Lynn Williams and her husband, Mike of Catlin, IL; and Thomas Walter Gritten and his wife, Misty of Catlin, IL. Eight Grandchildren: Brittany Cord of Danville, Jacob Cord of Catlin, Tommy Gritten of Slidell, LA, Kristal Pascual of Catlin, IL, Zachary Gritten of Catlin, IL, Dakota Gritten of Catlin, IL, Emily Gritten of Humboldt, TN, and Mary Beth Gritten of Humboldt, TN; and one great-grandchild, Amya Edward of Danville, IL. She is also survived by her two sisters: Katy Roy of Salt Lake City, UT and Sue Ruth of Wichita, KS, as well as other family members and many friends. A Celebration of Patricias Life will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home & Cremation Center 3940 N. Vermilion St. Danville, IL with Pastor Deborah Owens officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park in Danville.
