Patricia "Pat" A. (Pickering) Goin

Patricia "Pat" Pickering - Goin of Danville, Illinois, passed away on December 22, 2025 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Patricia was born on January 24, 1939, in Danville, Illinois, the fourth of eight children, to Frank Elmer and Anna Viola (Amos) Pickering. Pat grew up in Danville and was educated in the Danville schools. She fell in love with a home-town boy from Rankin, and on July 6, 1957 married Rolland "Arch" Goin.

Pat had worked at TeePak on third shift for many years before retiring after 30 years of service.

Pat is survived by two sons, Gregory Goin, Jeffrey (Debbie) Goin, granddaughters, Anastacia "Cole" Goin, and Jessica (Aric) Downing, grandsons, Kelly (Samantha) Goin and Joshua Goin, great granddaughter Kylie (Trace McLain) Howe, great grandsons, Sawyer Goin, Bentley Goin, Cameron Colunga, Jameson Shutes and Grayson Downing and one great-great grandson Cole McLain.

Also surviving are sister Barbara Stewart, two brothers Charles "Chuck" (Gladys) Pickering and John "Jack" (Sherry) Pickering, sister-in-law Sue Pickering, Bette Jo (Kevin) Brennan, Carol Goin, brother-in-laws George "Bud" Scarlett, Randy (Martha) Goin, Bob (Sheila) Cleary, along with several dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Rolland "Arch" Goin, father and mother, brothers Robert Pickering and Michael Pickering, sisters Margaret "Punky" Scarlett, Helen "Tudy" Green, sister-in-law Sue Hofer, brothers-in-laws Jack Stewart, Shelby Green, Larry Hofer and Don Goin and her in-laws Mildred and Bob Cleary and Arch Goin.

Pat had many interests, from top-rated garage sales to professional candy making. Her and Rolland loved a good Blue Grass festival and enjoyed traveling in their motor home to Arizona when the snow started to fly. Rolland was a glider pilot, and they loved to soar the beautiful mountain tops with the eagles in Tennessee. Of course, Pat was his Co-pilot reciting every prayer she ever knew. Her favorite thing was helping and giving to others. She would tell you she was a giver not a taker.

Pat's greatest joy was her grandchildren. She was so very proud of all of them. She loved to hear all about their ball games, their day at school, about their jobs and all their accomplishments in life.

A private family graveside service is planned, with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, Danville, Illinois. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to Danville First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 North Vermilion Street, Danville, Illinois 61832
