FITHIAN- Patricia J. (McBride) Daugherty, 56, of Fithian, went to be with the Lord at 3:40am on Friday, February 16, 2007 after a long illness. Patty was a resident at Carle Arbors and was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her passing. Patty was born on December 3, 1950, in Danville, the daughter of Homer and Helen McKee McBride. She married Michael Daugherty on March 22, 1969. He survives. Also surviving is her son; Sean (Kelli) Daugherty of Tolono, and her daughter; Shannon (Brian) Crow of Potomac. Also surviving are her five grandchildren; Shelby, Travis, Ryan, Kayla, and Jordan. Her two brothers; Chuck Willard (Cindy) McBride of Oakwood, and Tom (Kathy) McBride of Foristell, Mo. Her two sisters; Shirley (Steve) White of Fairmount, and Melinda Lindy Bruns of Catlin. Patty is also survived by her 13 nieces and nephews, as well as several great nieces and nephews, her special friend, Judy Berckman, and her little dog and companion, Buddy, who never left her side. Patty is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Miller. Patty began her nursing career as a C.N.A. at the Vermilion County Nursing Home and then received her Registered Nursing Degree in 1971 at Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville. Later she returned to Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton to serve as Assistant Director of Nursing. Patty also worked many years as Director of Nursing and as an In Service director at Pleasant Meadows Christian Village in Chrisman. Patty also worked at the Former Danville VA as a nurse, and in 1985, joined the Army reserves, as a nurse, stationed with a M*A*S*H Unit. She loved to collect family pictures and Blue Willow and Moss Rose China. She never missed the Christmas Eve family tradition of holding the youngest grandchild while reading, Twas the Night before Christmas and the bible version of Jesus Birth. A celebration of the life of Mrs. Patricia J. Daugherty is scheduled for 11:00am on Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home located at 200 E. West St. in Georgetown. Pastor Dale DeNeal will officiate the service. Final resting place will be at Sandusky Cemetery in Westville. Visitation for family and friends will be between 5-8pm on Monday, February 19, 2007 at the funeral home.
