Lynn Childs, 64, of Danville, passed away on May 26, 2016 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on February 19, 1952 in Danville, the daughter of Bill and Hilda (Claypool) Wangler Sr. She married John Childs on October 9, 1981 in Danville and he still survives. Lynn will be deeply missed by her mother, Hilda Wangler, husband, John Childs, children; Eric Childs, of Danville, Penny (Tom McCoy) Fredericks of Danville and Tammy (Scott) Talbott of Danville, siblings; Peggy (Howard) Carrell of Danville, Bill (Candi) Wangler Jr. of Catlin and Brian (Lindy) Wangler of Lemont, IL, grandchildren; Tiffany (John Leahy) White Jared Fredericks, Justin Fredericks, and Seth Talbott and Jake Fredericks, great grandchildren; Rylan and Levi Leahy. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Wangler Sr. Lynn graduated from Eastern Illinois University with her Master's degree in Education. She worked as a teacher and administrator for Danville District #118 until retiring in 2009. Lynn was also a grant consultant for the state of Illinois, the president of Laura Lee Fellowship House and a coordinator of students for the Festival of Trees in Danville. After retirement Lynn worked for Olivet Nazarene University in Kankakee, IL and was president of the State of Illinois Title 1 director's for years. She loved boating with John and reading her books, shopping and especially enjoyed holidays and entertaining friends and family. Lynn was a member of the Danville Boat Club and Second Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with all her friends and family. A celebration of Lynn's life will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 North Vermilion St. Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor Drew Mentzer and Brian Wangler officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 PM. Memorials can be made in Lynn's name to Second Church of Christ in Danville, Laura Lee Fellowship House or the Presence Cancer Care Center 806 North Logan Danville, IL 61832.
