Patricia Ann Simpson

St. Joseph - Patricia Ann Simpson, 72, passed away on Friday July 15, 2016 at Country Health Care and Rehab in Gifford, IL. She was born on February 17, 1944 in Chicago, IL to Richard Hugh and Patricia Ann (Moriearty) Kelm. Patty married John Wesley Simpson on July 13, 1962 in Champaign, IL. Patty is survived by her children Angella Anderson Simpson and John (Brenda) Simpson Jr.; grandchildren Joshua and Eric Anderson; brothers Jim Moriearty, Jerry Moriearty, and Ron Kelm. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Rick Kelm. Patty enjoyed fishing with her husband, gardening, and knitting. She loved spending time with her family and teasing her grandsons. Patty worked for some time as a Weight Watchers leader. Her family would like to thank the Carle nurses on the eighth floor, the hospice staff at Carle hospital, and the staff at Country Health Care and Rehab for the care they provided. Special thanks to the Pierson family for adopting Patty's four-legged child, Bogey. A celebration of Patty's life will be held on Wednesday July 20, 2016 at 11am at Sunset Funeral Home 710 N. Neil Street Champaign, IL. Graveside committal will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10am-11am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patty's name to Champaign County Humane Society or the organization of the donor's choice.
