Patricia Ann Black

Patricia Ann Black, 76 of Westville, passed away at 12:49 pm on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Westville, she was born November 2, 1937, the daughter of James Sr. and Esther (Albert) Emery. The world has lost an angel. Our loss is surely Heaven's gain. Beginning as a teenager, she enjoyed playing piano and singing hymns with her beloved mother. Her first job was as an overseas operator for Illinois Bell Telephone in Danville. For the past 37 years, Patty focused her passion for service to others through her "ideal" career of Office Administrator/Donor Relations for MVRBC previously Danville Elk's Blood Bank. She loved and was loved by her coworkers and donors alike. Also, she could be heard on WDNL radio as the voice behind the Public Broadcasting spots for the Blood Bank, as well as, serving as a delegate member for United Commercial Travelers (UCT) a fraternal organization since 1984. Despite her daunting physical challenges, her phenomenal positive spirit and outlook on life, allowed her to overcome those many obstacles. Patty focused her efforts on others and cherished the time she had with family and friends, and was a devoted Mom and Grandma. She planned her vacation each year around attending the Covered Bridge Festival and enjoying the time spent there with her sons and longtime family friend David Such. Another favorite pastime was hosting "Aggravation Board Game" Marathons, where her entertaining and "vicious" style of play was well known to anyone who dared to challenge her. Dining out with family and friends while exploring a wide variety of cuisine was a great passion of hers. Patty leaves behind three loving sons, Patrick Black, Timothy James Michael Black a.k.a. "Beav" and Kelly Brier, Darrick Sr. and Tonya Black, all of Westville. Also honorary son Tim and Amy Suchaczewski of Somonauk; 6 grandchildren, TroVante Phelps, Darrick Black Jr., Jada Talitha Ann Black, Jessica, Samantha and Isaac Suchaczewski; one sister, Shirley Levickey of Louisiana; many nieces and nephews; cousins including Robi Albert, Lorand Albert and the entire Hungarian Albert Family; lifelong friend June Schomburg ; and special friends Donna Lappin and Kem Wiggins. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, James Jr., Robert, Gilbert, Arnold and William, and three sisters, Rose Clauson, Lucy Palmer, and Jane Krasovich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday April 12, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Westville with Father Sauppe officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday April 11, 2014 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville, with a rosary service at 4:00pm.
