RIDGE FARM- Pastor Joseph R. Joe Starns, 56, of Ridge Farm, IL, passed away at 8:35am on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Vermilion Manor Nursing Home in Tilton. Joe was born on July 24, 1951, in Crawfordsville, IN, the son of Harold and Margaret (Redenbaug) Starns-Tague. On August 25, 1973, Joe married Ms. Teresa Strubinger in Georgetown. Joe is survived by: his wife, Teresa; his mother, Margaret Tague; his three children, Joshua Reid (Jennifer) Starns of Indianapolis, IN, Dr. Joel Rae (Suzanne) Starns of Pittsboro, IN, and Ruey Ellen (Joe) Sandusky of Mt. Zion, IN; his three grandchildren, Alexis Ann Sandusky, Jared Reid Sandusky, & William Everett Sandusky; his brother, Dr. John F. (Shawn) Starns of Fairfax, VA; his sister-in-law, Beverly Starns of Manassas, VA; his nephews & niece, Jason F. (Cindy) Starns, Jeffery Starns, and Leah Starns. His father; Harold, and his nephew; Jeremy Lee Starns, preceded Joe in death. Joe was currently the pastor at the Wabash Chapel in Covington, IN. He and his family were associated with the Calvary Baptist Church in Tilton, and a sponsor of the Food Pantry. He graduated from Fountain Central High School and held the mens relay track team record for 30 plus years. After graduation, Joe enrolled at the Bob Jones College, as well as Eastern Michigan and Faith Way Baptist College of Michigan, earning his degrees in Bible Education and Physical Education. Joe later enrolled at the Northland Bible College, and Eastern Michigan, working on his Masters Degree. Joe enjoyed sports, photography, playing the trumpet, and Genealogy. He was a people person who enjoyed life to the fullest, always there and eager to help others in need. Joe was a pastor and educator all of his life, and he enjoyed serving from the heart. A celebration of Pastor Joseph R. Starns life is scheduled for 3:00pm EST, on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the 1st Baptist Church in Covington, IN. Pastor Joe Humrichous will officiate the service. Final resting place will be at Zackmier Cemetery in Indiana. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 19, 2007, from 3-7pm EST, at the church. Memorial contributions may be made in Joes name to the Hemophilic Foundation and/or the Gideon Bible. Arrangements by Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown. .
