Pastor Ervin L. Garrison

Newport, Ind. -- Pastor Ervin L. Garrison, 60, of Newport, passed away at 6:30 p.m. CST Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. He was born August 11, 1950 in Danville, Illinois, the son of the late Charlene Decker Senecal and Charles Garrison. He married Carolyn Sawyer on February 3, 2006 in Newport, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include his daughter, Jane Ann(Jonathan)Elliott of New Orleans, Louisiana; step daughter, Abby Wilson of Kingman, Indiana; two step sons, Zack and Cody Wilson both of Newport, Indiana; five grandchildren; one sister, Cheri Lawrence of Danville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Lee and his daughter, Stacee. Pastor Ervin was the Associate Pastor at the Newport Church of God. He was a iron worker and a member of the Local 439 in Terre Haute, Indiana. Pastor Ervin was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a 1968 graduate of Danville High School. Pastor Ervin enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. He devoted his life to his church and family. Funeral services: 3 p.m. EST Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Newport Church of God; Officiating: Pastor John Hawkins; Burial: Thomas Cemetery in Newport, Indiana; Visitation: 1 to 3 p.m. EST Monday, December 27, 2010 at the church.
