GEORGETOWN - Ovella Mims Jayne Covington, 81, of Georgetown, passed away at 8:45pm, Sunday, January 20th, 2008, at her home. She was born on September 19th, 1926, in Burdett, Arkansas, the daughter of Lucian and Annie Pearl (Franks) Tomlin, both deceased. She married Harry J. Covington I on August 5th, 1960, in Logansport, Indiana. He preceded her in death on May 5th, 1990. Those who will miss her include: her daughter, Nancy Ann Covington of Georgetown; her grandchildren, Ed (Janis) Carlock of Logansport, IN, Carla (Tom) Kohl of Georgetown, Harry (Darlene) Covington II of Olivet, Ronald (Sherry) Clark of Georgetown, Maria (Johnny) Collins of Georgetown; her great grandchildren, Jeremy, Alysha, Daniel, Jesse, Joshua, Wyatt, Amber, Tisha, Cheyenne, Cassandra, Johnathon, Trinity, Chase, her two great grandchildren, Devin & Michael; her sisters, Beatrice Dowell of Arkansas, Molly (Grant) Leneaux of Nevada, & Jessie (Renee) McCurdy of Pennsylvania; her two special nieces, Joyce (Jerry) Peterson of Indiana & Debbie (Jerry) Burns of Florida. Her two sons - Jerry and Jack Covington, three sisters, three brothers, and her grandson - Shaun Covington, preceded her in death. Mims was a nurse and worked for Logansport State Hospital for over 33 years. She was an avid sports fan of the New England Patriots and also of Chicago Cubs Baseball. She loved gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She was a very giving person and will be missed by all her knew and loved her. A celebration of Ovellas life will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008, at Sunsets Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, 200 E West St, Georgetown, IL. Her grandson, Harry Covington II, will officiate the service. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Everest Memorial Park in Logansport, IN. Memorial donations may be given in her name to Carle Hospice Program, 206A W Anthony Dr, Champaign, IL, 61822.
