Oushi Jack Sandlin, 60, of Tilton passed away at 2:44 am, Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on February 16, 1954 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Jack and Eva (Alexander) Sandlin. He was united in marriage to Cynthia (Snyder) Ross on December 2, 1972. Oushi later married Sarah (Miller) Smith on January 20, 1985. He will be missed by: three sons, Jay (Kim) Sandlin of Greenville, Ohio, Jason (Missy) Sandlin of Danville and Oushi Jr. of Tilton; three daughters, Michelle (fianc, Don) Sandlin of Danville, Sangela (Dillon) Hord of Danville and Oushea Sandlin of Tilton; step mother, Sue Sandlin of Lake Placid, Florida; one step daughter, Angie (Jason) Zarn of Tilton; two nephews, Damien (Erica) Sandlin of Tilton, Kyle Sandlin of Westville, & Nick (Jodi) Jones of Westville, one niece, Cholista (Solomon) Sandlin of Carmel, Indiana; one brother, Mark (Becky) Sandlin of Georgetown; two sisters, Judy Sandlin and Sandra Sandlin both of Westville; two step brothers, David (Kim) Murdock of Tilton, Don (Ginger) Murdock of Gays, Illinois; one step sister, Danielle Murdock Gilbert of Lake Placid, Florida; 21 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Oushi was preceded in death by: his parents and one brother, Mike Sandlin. Oushi attended Danville High School before joining the Marines in 1972. Following service to his country, he enjoyed work as a contractor for many years. Oushi began martial arts classes at the age of four. He was a high-ranking martial artist recognized by several organizations & inducted into many martial arts Hall of Fames. He became an instructor and taught for many years. He loved his family and being able to spend time with them was important to him. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel in Westville with Pastor Jim Blue officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 1:00 until the time of service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Songer Cemetery, Tilton with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #51. Memorial donations may be made to Oushis family in care of Jay Sandlin.
