Cayuga, Ind. -- Ottie J. Dye, 85, of Cayuga, Indiana, passed away at 4:20 a.m. EDT Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Brownsburg Meadows in Brownsburg, Indiana. He was born May 10, 1923 in Eubank, Kentucky, the son of the late Victor K. and Marticia E. Green Dye. He married Helen Lee Porter on May 12, 1945 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She survives. Other survivors include: one daughter, Susan Lee(Bob)Hill of Pittsboro, Indiana; one son, Ottie Joe(Ann)Dye of Lake Charles, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Doug Hill of Marion, Indiana; Matthew Hill of Franklin, Indiana; John Mitchell(Susan)Dye of Corydon, Indiana; Mindy Jo Dye of Louisville, Kentucky and Shelly Kral of Lake Charles, Louisiana; six great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence(Lena)Dye of Somerset, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers. Ottie retired in 1983 after seventeen years from Public Service Indiana in Cayuga as a storekeeper. He also formerly worked at Material Service Corporation in Cayuga as a Bookkeeper and Weightmaster for 23 years. He was a 1942 graduate of Cayuga High School. Ottie was a life member of the Cayuga Presbyterian Church. He was a former member of the Cayuga Masonic Lodge #584 and the O.E.S.. He enjoyed watching their humming birds. Funeral services: 10 a.m. EDT Tuesday, July 1, 2008 at the Bono Cemetery Chapel in Bono, Indiana; Officiating: Rev. Grover Williams; Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m EDT Monday, June 30, 2008 at DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana; Burial: Bono Cemetery in Bono, Indiana. Contributions may be made to the Cayuga Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 386, Cayuga, Indiana 47928 or to the Cayuga Park, P.O. Box 0033 Cayuga, Indiana 47928. DeVerter Funeral Home in Cayuga, Indiana in charge of arrangements.
