Oscar Leroy Powell

Oscar Leroy Powell 86 of Danville IL passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 9, 2025. Born in Danville, IL on January 4, 1939 to Ary May Acree Powell and Palmer Isaac Powell. He was married to the love of his life Catherine Viola Powell.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, his wife Catherine Powell, mother-in-law Mildred Henry, brothers Floyd P. Powell, Donald I. Powell, Arthur J. Powell, Paul E. Powell, Robert B. Powell, Steve E. Powell I and 1 sister Mary Lou Powell. His nieces Debbie Powell, Janet Powell and nephews Pat Morris, Frank Morris, Linton Powell, Danny Powell and Steven Powell II.

Oscar Leroy Powell is survived by his sisters Lula Mae Stark of Georgetown, IL and Millie Jane Powell of Laurel, MD and his brother William E. Powell Sr. Sister in laws Sharon Powell, Chandra Powell and Crystal Powell. Nieces and Nephews, Amy Hoskins, Troy Cordes, Beth Allen, Pete Powell, Paul Powell, Paula Powell, Sherry Scott, Lisa Kelley, Sheila Burton, Teresa Biggs, Lauretta Stark, Robert Powell, Michelle Painter, Will Powell jr. and Jeanette Schmidt and many many great nieces and nephews.

He attended Danville High School and served in the US Army Reserves. He worked for a printer company, a marble company and later had his own successful remodeling and roofing and windows company. His hobby was his work. He enjoyed watching old westerns and playing cards. He loved the many dogs he had over the years including his most recent Baby girl.

A Graveside Service for Oscar will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at Bethel Cemetery in Blount Township, on the corner of 1150 E and Indian Springs Road (2470 N), Danville, Illinois. Miles Clark will officiate. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
