Orville W. Hornbeck

Dana, Ind. -- Orville W. Hornbeck, 88, of Dana, passed away at 11:25 a.m. EDT Thursday, August 13, 2009 at The Waters of Covington in Covington, Indiana. He was born May 17, 1921 in Vermillion County, Indiana the son of the late Jesse and Wilhelmina Kinderman Hornbeck. He married Elma Marie Neild on September 5, 1939 in Covington, Indiana. She preceded him in death on August 18, 1994. Survivors include seven grandchildren, Lloyd Chapman, Jr.; Kenny(Terri)Chapman; Diana(Mark)Hampton; Rhonda Chapman; Jeff(Mandi)Hornbeck; Julie Jackman and Christina(Chris)Bryant; eighteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three daughters, Norma Chapman; Shirley Straw and Marilyn Cocheran; one sister and one brother. Orville worked as a millwright. He was a veteran of W.W. II serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the Newport American Legion Post #184. He enjoyed restoring and driving antique cars, raising horses, gardening, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. Don Morgan; Burial: Eugene Cemetery in Eugene, Indiana with graveside military rites by the Newport American Legion Post #184; Visitation: 1 p.m. EDT Sunday, August 16, 2009 until time of services at the funeral home.
