Orville Bonebrake

Orville Bonebrake, 95, of Danville, passed away at 4:45am, Monday, January 20, 2014, at Gardenview Manor in Tilton. He was born the son of Paul and Leona {Onley} Bonebrake on May 7, 1918, in Georgetown. He was married to Margaret Lucille Evans on August 18, 1939, until her passing on January 6, 1990. He later was wed to Mary Elizabeth Knowles who will miss him dearly. He will also be missed by: his children, Charles (Bernadine) Bonebrake of Olympia Fields, IL, Sandra (John) Sykes of Danville, David (Pam) Bonebrake of Oakland, IL, James (Kay) Bonebrake of Oswego, & Donna Sue (Jan Cusak) Bonebrake of Springville, IN; his step-daughters, Jane (James) Hall of Danville & Marianne (Andy) Monson of Danville; his 14 grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Bonebrake, Jennifer (Jeff) Ahmadian, Melissa (David) Pisarczyk, Amanda Bonebrake, Mike (Cheryl) McCorkle, Marty McCorkle, Micki Bratton, Lisa (Kenny) McClain, Tom (Patty) Bonebrake, Tim Bonebrake, Bobbie Jo (Stephen) White, Jim (Felicia) Bonebrake, Jeff Bonebrake, & Scott Bonebrake; his 8 step-grandchildren, Tom (Vickie) Klaman, Jim (Ericka) Klaman, Don (Kristina) Klaman, Kristina Wallis, Lara (Chris) West, Casie (Shane) Davis, Adam (Mishel) Monson, & Rebecca Monson; his 24 great grandchildren; his 14 step great grandchildren; his 4 great-great grandchildren; and his one step great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Marvin; his step-daughter, Judy Klaman; and his nephew, Ronnie Bonebrake. In 1946, Orville started his building career as a carpenter. He volunteered his time with 4-H helping his five children, as well as, others. He was also involved with the Boy Scouts while David & Jim were scouts. In 1955, Orville became a Mason and eventually won the Masonic Builder of the Year. He coached in the Vermilion County Girls Softball League and the girls to a Vermilion County & State Championship in 1967. He was a member of the Eastern Star Danville Chapter 854 and became a “Rainbow Dad” for the Georgetown Chapter of Rainbow Girls. He later was elected as a Trustee of McKendree Township. He was member of the Carpenters Local 16 for 65 years, Order of the Eastern Star in Danville, and First United Methodist Church in Danville. He was an avid golfer. He was known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, & great grandfather who touched many lives in everything he was involved in and was a positive influence for all. Orville lived his life to the fullest and will be remembered and loved by many. A celebration of Orvilles life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, January 25, 2014, at Sunset s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Nathan Jefferies officiating. Visitation will be 4pm-7pm, Friday, January 24, 2014, at the funeral home with the Masonic Rites at 7:00pm. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery. Memorial donation may be given in his name to First United Methodist Church, Danville.
