Ora Davis, 88, of Westville, passed away at 8:42 am on Monday, March 10, 2014 at Colonial Manor, Danville. She was born April 8, 1925, in Mattoon, IL the daughter of James Franklin and Elsie May (Eldridge) Martin. Ora married Jay M. Davis on April 29, 1943 in Danville, and they enjoyed 59 years together before his passing. Ora is survived by three sons, Robert Jay (Donna) Davis of Westville, Jerry L. (Sue) Davis of Danville and Randy (Cindy) Davis of Westville; one step-daughter, Rose Marie Osborn of Decatur; one daughter in law, Joyce Davis of New Lenox; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grand children. She was preceded in death by one son, John Michael Davis, four brothers and two sisters. Ora has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for more than 50 years. She also enjoyed being on the Westville Library Board, in the Westville Womens Club, Women of the Moose and the Organaires. She loved to read, travel, cook and do crossword puzzles. Ora attended the Lerna Schools and also studied teaching at EIU. Her greatest joy in life was her family and all her wonderful friends and neighbors. A celebration of Oras life will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 311 E Moses Avenue, Westville with Pastor Connie Bandy officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Janesville Cemetery, Janesville, IL. Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. The Davis family would like to extend a special thank you to Oras two caretakers, Glenda McCloud and Polly Hawley as well as the entire staff of Colonial Manor. Memorial donations in Oras name may be made to Trinity United Church of Chirst.
