Opal Marie Cappello

Danville Opal Marie Cappello, 81, of Danville passed away on October 26, 2021 at 11:27 am with her family by her side at home.

Opal was born on October 24, 1940 in Lawrenceburg, IN the daughter of Edward and Esther (McConnell) Herrick. She married Charles A Cappello, Jr on October 7, 1961 in Williamsport, IN and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2004.

Survivors include one son, Charles "Ed" Cappello of Danville, IL, one daughter, Nora Reynolds of Tilton, IL, one grandson, Mason Cappello of Danville, IL, one sister, Diana Wilson of Pine Village, IN, a sister-in-law, Janet Netherly of Minooka, IL as well as a great grandson, Leighton Cappello.

Opal is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles.

Opal was a Dietary Aide at Vermilion Manor for many years. She enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, doing crafts, reading, doing cross word puzzle books and spending time with her dogs she loved dearly.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Raymie Gordon will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 11:00 PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the funeral home.

It is kindly requested that those in attendance of the visitation or services wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Memorials may be made to the Animal Shelter of the Donors choice.
