Opal Deeken

Opal Deeken, 83, of Danville passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2007 at her residence. Opal Deeken was born June 17, 1924 in Danville daughter of Arnold Ray Carl and Mamyme Vanzant. She married Robert G. Deeken in September of 1945. He survives along with their two children: Michael (Chris) Deeken of Danville, Daniel (Carol) Deeken of Charleston, IL; daughter-in-law Patricia (Barnett) Deeken of Collierville, TN; 5 grandsons & 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Kenneth Carl, and son Robert R. Deeken. Opal was a 42 graduate of Danville High School and retired from St. Elizabeth Hospital where she worked as a Laboratory Technician. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing poker and most of all cooking, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner. A Celebration of Opals Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Sunsets Oakwood Chapel 105 East South Main St. Oakwood, IL. Visitation will be held from 11 am -1 pm Saturday at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
