Oliver J. Bugelli, 89, of Westville, passed away at 6:02pm, Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana. He was born on January 17, 1923, in Westville, IL, the son of Pasqual and Inez {Pacini} Bugelli, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Ballard on May 1, 1953. She survives, along with his son, Steve Bugelli of Westville. In his younger years, Oliver worked for George Vacketta Ford Dealership in Westville. He attended Ford Automotive School in Champaign. He later enlisted into the US Army during WWII. He was with the Third Army 5th Division 50 Field Artillery. He was a Motor Sergent overseeing trucks, jeeps, and equipment. He served under General Patton at Normandy Beach, as well as, seven other major battles. After leaving the military, Oliver went to work for Frank Chandler Co. for 30 years as an automotive machinist. He had a doctorate of motors and later worked for Leverenz Automotive in Danville. He also owned and operated his own shop out of his home called Oliver's Small Engine Shop. Oliver was also an operation's officer for Vermilion County Fire & Rescue, working with numerous hospitals and people in the medical field and law enforcement where he volunteered countless hours. He enjoyed going fishing, camping and gardening. He also was involved with helping with the area Boy Scouts. A celebration of Oliver's life will be held at10:00am, Monday, June 25, 2012, at Sunset-Urbas Funeral Chapel, Westville. Visitation will be 2-4pm, Sunday, June 24, 2012, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery.
