Olive A. Taflinger, 97, of Bismarck, passed away at 2:39 p.m. Wednesday, March 03, 2010 at her home. Olive was born on March 25, 1912 in Oakwood, Illinois, the daughter of Willard and Eva (King) Andrews. She married Otto M. Taflinger on December 18, 1931 in Danville. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1985. She is survived by her daughters- Karen (Jim) Thornton of Springfield, Carol Boyd of Bismarck and Lyell (Gary) Denison of Danville; brother- Lowell Andrews of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters-Marie Ruester of Las Vegas, Nevada and Mary Blanche Pierce of Van Nuys, California; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special friends- Elizabeth DeNeal, Mary White, Madeline Holycross, Hyla Smith, Dorothy Pepper, Lavonne Olmstead, Francis Young and many other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers- Luther Andrews and Dale Andrews. Olive graduated from Bismarck High School in 1930. She worked for 20 years at Sears-Roebuck in Danville. She was a member of the Walnut Corner Church of Christ, Home Extension for 60 years, Thimble Club for 50 years, Ladies Aid of Walnut Corner and the Historical Society. Olive enjoyed hand quilting and made 50 quilts. Her quilts graced the beds of all of her daughters and grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and listening to classical music. A Celebration of the life of Olive A. Taflinger will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Walnut Corner Church of Christ, with Pastor Sam Eddy officiating. Olive will be laid to rest following the service in walnut Corner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville.
