Carbondale, CO- Olga Baquero, 89, of Carbondale, CO, formerly of Danville, Rankin, and Paxton, passed away at 11:58 AM on April 15, 2012 at the Heritage Park Care Center. She was born on September 1, 1922 in Moscow, Russia to Paul and Maria Woitowicz. She married Alfonso Baquero on June 18, 1949 in Switzerland. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1984. Surviving is a daughter, Ines Baquero of New Castle, CO; son Eric (Cathie Werkman) Baquero, also of New Castle, CO; and two grandchildren, Alexander (Amy) Baquero and Stefanie Baquero. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Nicholas. Olga was a classical concert pianist, performing in concerts all over the world. Music was her passion. She taught many music students in Danville and Paxton over the years. In addition to her music, Olga was very active, even late into life. She would go skiing until the age of 75, and also enjoyed traveling, flower gardening and just being in nature. A service to celebrate the life of Olga Baquero will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville. Pastor Raymie Gordon will officiate. Entombment will follow at a later time at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 1-4 PM prior to the service on Sunday, also at Sunset in Danville. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Humane Society.
