She was a graduate of Indianola high school and attended Utterback and Brown Business college in 1951. She worked for the PMA office while going to Utterback and started her career as a bookkeeper for the Muller Johnson Baking Company, then went to Three Sisters and later joined the Consolidated Products Company, on the old Ottawa Road west of Danville. After working for them for four years, she later took the Civil Service test and went to work for the Veterans Administration Hospital in April of 1957 and retired in 1994 as a clerical clerk working in the contact office, dietetic department and last in engineering. She was a member of the Indianola Methodist church all her life.
She had been a Sunday School teacher, teaching the youth and the adult class. She had played the piano for church and Sunday school since 1946 until she was no longer able in 2015. Her life was devoted to family and friends and as Will Rodgers said, “she never met a person she didn’t like”. She had a knack for making words rhyme and love to entertain friends and family with her funny poems. She loved the music of the forties and fifties and had many pieces of sheet music which she enjoyed playing on the piano.
