Timothy Dale Thomas

     Timothy Thomas, 74, of Covington, IN, left this temporary home at 3:22am, Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Williamsport, IN due to complications of Covid.  He was born in Danville, IL, the son of Elmer and Bette {Shipman} Thomas on April 18, 1948.  He was united in marriage to Susan “Sue” Strahle on January 16, 1970, in Linton, IN.  She is grateful and thankful that God blessed her with 52 years of marriage and for his love, patience, kindness, sense of humor and all the joy he brought to her, his family and to all that knew him.
     He will also be missed by: his children, Jennifer (Cary) Johnson of Broad Ripple, IN, Amanda (Chris) Cloud of Brownsburg, IN, and Lee (Phillip) Zoerb of Covington; his grandchildren, Dalton (Ashley) Hardy, Dailynn Hardy, Jack Zoerb, Lauryn Kempen, Cruz Kempen, Jovie Zoerb, & Calyn Cloud; his great grandchildren, Oliver Hardy & Evelyn Osborn; his sister, Sandra (Larry) Grimble; and his special Aunt, Anna Lee Hosler of Covington; as well as many nieces & nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and extended family. He will also be missed by his long-time friends, Beth & Mike Fusco and Rosie & Dennis Robbins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
     Timothy was a proud Veteran of the US Navy.  He graduated from Covington High School and attended two years at Purdue University. He worked for Fountain County as a land surveyor and later retired from Danville Metal Stamping as a laser operator in 2014. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and was an avid fan of the Indianapolis Colts and Chicago Bears.  He always enjoyed playing with his Bridge partner John Schambach. He was also a master carpenter. Timothy loved his family and was known to his family as a patient, kind & loving husband, father, grandfather, & great grandfather.  He had dementia, but it could not take away his joyful humor and many will miss his smile and remember the memories he made with them.
    The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Hafeez and the rest of the amazing staff at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport. A special shout-out to Jennifer VanCleave for all she did.
     A celebration of Timothy’s life will be held at 3:00pm, Thursday, August 18, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 with Andy Harkleroad officiating.  Visitation will be held for family and friends from 12:00pm to 3:00pm on Thursday prior to his service at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington.  Donations in Tim’s memory may be sent to Covington Community Foundation, ATTN: Covington Park Project Fund, P.O.
