Teresa Andrews

Teresa Ann Andrews, 63, of Bismarck passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 with family by her side. She was born in Danville on October 19, 1956 the daughter of David and Carolyn Thornsbrough. On August 11, 1979 Teresa married the love of her life, Kevin S. Andrews in Alvin, IL and they spent the last 40 years together, he survives.

Also surviving are parents, David and Carolyn Thornsbrough; sons, Ryan (Kendal) Andrews, Blake Andrews; daughter, Heather (Chris) Dukes; and beloved grandchildren, Brayden, Reagan, Jaxon and Harper.

Teresa was a special education teacher for 35 years at East Park Elementary in Danville and retired in 2015. She has helped countless students over the years that would often see her in public after they had grown up and give her a hug. She would always be Mrs. Andrews to them.

She was a member of the Alvin Christian Church and was a Sunday School Teacher there for several years. She was involved with 4-H, a member of the Alvin Women’s Auxiliary and loved going to her children’s sporting events as they grew up. Her voice could be heard from across the field or gym as she cheered her children on.

When her children were little, she also enjoyed camping with them and friends. Teresa loved to shop and go to arts and crafts shows, such as the Covered Bridge Festival every fall.

But most of all she loved her children and grandchildren. The disease that she was inflicted with kept her from being the true grandma she wanted to be to them, but her love for them never diminished. We take comfort now knowing that she is whole once again, free from pain and in a new body, and now back with her friends that passed before her.

Visitation will be held on Monday August 10, 2020 from 4pm to 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. A Celebration of Teresa’s life will be held at 10am on Tuesday August 11, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Kiley Garrison officiating. Burial will take place at Gundy Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made in Teresa’s name to the Dementia Society of America.
