Ronald Brown

      Ronald ‘Ron’ Brown, 85, of Sidell, passed away at 5:09pm, Monday, February 8, 2021, at his home.  He was born on October 31, 1935, in Danville, IL the son of Max and Lela {Hubbard}Brown.  On July 2, 1955, he was united in marriage to Janet Burnworth in Sidell, IL.  She will miss him dearly.
     Ron is also survived by his daughters, Becky (Bruce) Stark & Lori Brown; his grandchildren, Sara Jo Brown, Katlyn (Austin Williams) Salinas, & Cole (Katie) Stark; his great grandchildren, Isabella Sophia Salinas & Cruz Alan Romero; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Brown; his cousin, Cy (Jan) Hubbard; and his extended family, Steven (Shannon) Rannenbarger  and their children, Abby Henry, Alexandra Henry, & Kendall Rannanebarger, & Amy (Bill) Huddleson and their children, Emma, Jake, & Addison Huddleson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Keith Brown, & his son, Alan Brown.
     Ron served in the Army National Guard.  He worked for the Vermilion County Highway Department for 44 years and served on the Merit Commission.  He helped his community by serving on the Sidell Village Board and Sidell Fire Department.  He formerly belonged to the Sidell Lions Club and was part of the Masonic Lodge Olive Branch #38 in Danville.  He achieved the 32° Mason and served as past Master.  Ron enjoyed trap shooting and gardening.  He collected metal diecast planes and enjoyed watching the History Channel.  He loved his family and will be much remembered by all whose lives he touched.
     A Masonic Service will begin Ron’s celebration of life at 12:00pm, Friday, February 12, 2021, at Sidell United Methodist Church, 202 Chicago St, Sidell, IL, 61876 with Reverend Dennis Divan officiating.  Visitation will be held 10:00am to 12:00pm on Friday prior to his service at the Church.  He will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Sidell.  His arrangements were handled by Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given in his name to Sidell United Methodist Church.  Please join his family in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
