Roland 'Skip' Peelman

     Roland ‘Skip’ Peelman, 90, of Georgetown, passed away at 12:15pm, on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at his home.  He was born in Danville, IL, on August 21, 1931, the son of Alvin and Eva {Lowe} Peelman, both deceased.  He was united in marriage to Barbara Huffaker on November 24, 1955, in Scotland, IL, until her passing on July 1, 2016.
     Roland is survived by: his children Rick (Shelley) Peelman of Georgetown, Pamela (Terry) Rachiell of Gibson City; his grandchildren, Ryan (Jo Ellyn) Peelman of Monrovia, IN, Aaron Peelman of Monrovia, IN, Michael Crowley of Georgetown, & William J. Peelman II of Chrisman; and his great granddaughter, Beatrix Peelman.  He is also survived by his siblings, Melvina Edwards, Rose Quartier, Alvin Peelman, Dianne Sollars, & Danny Peelman.  He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; his son, William Peelman; and six siblings.
     Roland worked for Hysters for 47 years as a machinist until his retirement.  He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and fill-ins and owned B&S Ceramic Shop.  He loved to garden in his greenhouse growing many plants and flowers, as well as mushroom hunting.
     A Celebration of Roland’s life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday May 12, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor James Blue officiating.  Visitation will be held 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Forest Park Cemetery, Georgetown.  Memorial donations may be given in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
