Bob graduated from Georgetown High School in 1963. Bob was a veteran of the Vietnam era, serving in the Army from 1963-1966. Later Bob was a logger at Brandt Voight Brandt logging in Colorado. Bob then became a Boilermaker. He was a hard worker until he retired in 2010. Being a boilermaker took him to many different states, but his roots were in the Georgetown-Sidell area.
Bob enjoyed camping with family and friends and enjoyed spending the summers with his grandchildren when they would visit him. As a grandpa would do, he told stories and took his grandchildren places to make memories which they cherish today. When Bob wasn’t busy with his family and friends, he would tinker around in the garage and ride his golf cart around town to aggravate his friends.
Bob was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that would need one. He was a very likable and caring person. He acted tough on the outside but had a heart of gold and was like a big teddy bear. His kindness and his sense of humor will be missed by everyone that knew him and his favorite cat, Bella.
Per his request (his exact words) "If you can’t come and see me when I am alive, you don’t need to come and see me when I am gone." Also per his request, he will be cremated with no service. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 3940 N. Vermilion St., Danville, IL has been entrusted with arrangements.
