Phillip Weaver Obituary

     Phillip R. Weaver, 87, of Catlin, passed away at 3:40am, Monday, July 1, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.  He was born on July 17, 1931, in Danville, the son of Ralph and Vera {Watson} Weaver, both deceased.  He was united in marriage to Patricia Woodard on May 20, 1951, until her passing on June 21, 2015.

     He is survived by:  his children, Melinda (Rick) long of Catlin, Malia (Joe) Pelszynski of Catlin, and Doug (Jan) Weaver of Florida; his grandchildren, Josh (Natalie) Long, Jeni (Jason) Young, Drew (Courtney) Weaver, & Ian Weaver; his great grandchildren, Brooklyn Long, Gavin Long, Haleigh (Cody) Nicholson, Hope (Daniel Bickers) Van Camp, Easton Barney, Kinley Barney, Ross Weaver, & Nora Weaver; his great-great grandchildren, Carter Bickers & Liam Bickers; his niece, Connie Pennington; and his nephew, Scott (Helen) Kight.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Kight.

     Phillip worked for the Vermilion County Highway Department for 33 years in the engineering department.  He was a member of the Catlin United Methodist Church and Georgetown Masonic Lodge #154 in Georgetown and was part of the Scottish Rites Consistory.  He enjoyed playing cards and watching the cardinals.  He loved golfing and made a Hole-in-One on the Oxbow Course in Florida.  He was owner and proprietor of the “Hilltop Lounge” where he was known for his “killer” margaritas and bloody marys.  Phillip loved his family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

     A celebration of Phillip’s life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, located at 200 E West St., with Zackary Lecrone officiating.  Visitation will be held 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Friday, July 5, 2019 at the funeral home with Masonic Service will be held at 4:45pm.  He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.  Please join his family in sharing memories, photos, & videos through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
