Paul J Marana Sr.

Paul J. Marana Sr., 96, of Danville went to his eternal home on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Accolade Health Care in Danville, IL.

He was born October 5, 1927, in Danville, IL., son of the late Mansour and Hazel (Rickard) Marana.

Paul first married Margaret Colwell and she preceded him in death in 1993. He later married Barbara Finley and she also preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by his sons: Paul (Nancy) Marana Jr., of Danville, IL., Robert (Rochelle) Marana of Oakwood, IL., William (Patty) Marana of Bismarck, IL; his daughters: Marjorie (Joe) Hensold of Danville, IL., Clarice (Sandy) Marana of Columbia SC; one sister: Luella Podolor; two brothers: Frank Marana and Tom Marana; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Paul never missed an opportunity to share his love of the Lord. During his time as an active member at The Rock Church, he was heavily involved in the VA Ministry Outreach, Catechism Counselors and spent time volunteering at the Abundant Life Pentecostal Church of God in Danville. He embarked on several mission trips and took his love of spreading the gospel to Germany, Haiti and Jamaica. He loved roller skating well into his retirement years and enjoyed all the times he spent out at Illini Skate Land. When he wasn’t on roller skates, Paul could be found kicked back watching racing and spending time with those he loved the most.   

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10AM on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion Street Danville, IL 61834 with Pastor Keith Bouslog officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 9AM to 10AM Saturday at the funeral home.
