Paul Edward Hussmann

     Paul Edward Hussmann, 87, of Danville passed away on November 21, 2019, at Hawthorne Inn, Danville, Illinois.

     Paul was proceeded in death by his parents, Herman and Anna Maria Olinda Hussmann, his brothers, William and Louis Hussmann, and his sister, Mary Ruth Grumley.  He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice; his children, Greg (Kim) Hussmann of Batavia, IL, Glen (Cathie) Hussmann of Charlotte, NC and Paula Everett of Bloomington, IL; ten grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

     Paul was born on September 14, 1932 in Danville and lived locally his entire life.  He attended Trinity Lutheran grade school, Danville High School and completed his electrician apprenticeship before starting a 44-year career as an electrician.  He worked for the C&EI railroad and was a member of the local chapter of the IBEW.  He treasured the many friendships he made working on numerous construction projects in the area until his retirement in 1994.  After retirement, he worked as a volunteer at Danville Gardens for 15 years where he enjoyed the companionship of the staff. 

     Paul was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an elder, sang in the choir, and helped with numerous facilities improvement projects.  He enjoyed singing and also performed for many years with the local Barber Shoppers and Vermilion Festival Choir.  Paul was an accomplished artist and wood worker and appreciated artistic talents of all types.  He was also an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed playing golf in his retirement years with his family and friends and playing euchre with his wife and grandchildren.  He will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a true friend.

     A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 E. Main St, Danville, Illinois 61832, with Pastor Kent Tibben officiating.  Visitation will be held from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Tuesday prior to the service at the Church.  He will be laid to rest in Lutheran Cemetery, Danville.  Memorial donations may be given in his name to Trinity Lutheran Church, Danville and hospice care.  Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 assisted his family with arrangements.  Please join his family in sharing memories through his Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
