Nellie M. Hardy

Nellie Maurine Hardy, 84, of Covington, IN passed away on February 8, 2020 at The Waters of Covington.

She was born on March 27, 1935 in Lafayette, IN daughter of Clinton and Christel (Jones) Royal. She married Robert Eugene Hardy on November 29, 1953 in Covington. He survives.

Nellie will be deeply missed by her loving husband, children; Judy (Kirby) Tedder, Stan (Brenda) Hardy, and Dan Hardy, daughter-in-law, Rhonda Hardy, 10 grandchildren; Brian, Brittney, Andrea, Andy, Alise, Brooke, Crystal, Jeremy, Dalton, and Dailynn, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, James Hardy, brothers: Lt. Colonel Don Royal and Lt. Colonel Gerald Royal.

Nellie loved the Lord & taught children in Sunday school for 50+ years at First Church of Christ

in Covington. She also enjoyed singing, playing piano & directing the choir for many years.

Nellie was an excellent cook and gardener. She was a former member of Tri Kappa/Covington

and worked at Fountain Trust Company until she retired.

A celebration of Nellie’s life will be held at 11:00 AM EST Thursday, February 13, 2020 at First Church of Christ in Covington with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at First Church of Christ and also one hour prior to the service Thursday. She will be laid to rest at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington 420 3rd St. Covington, IN 47932 is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made in her name to First Church of Christ or Hanging Rock Christian Camp.
