Nancy J. Mealer-Butler

Danville – Nancy J. Mealer-Butler, 85, passed away on May 15, 2019 at 1:36 pm at her home in Danville, IL.

Nancy was born on February 24, 1934 the daughter of Homer E. and Bessie Ola (Edwards) Mealer in Danville, IL. She married George Allen Butler on July 21, 1952 in Danville, IL.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna J. (Paul) Rogers of Danville, IL, one sister, Martha Smith, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and her canine companion, Cocoa.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Farrell and Frances Mealer Sr., sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Hunt, a precious son, Robert Butler and a precious daughter, Patricia Ann Butler, a nephew Farrell Eugene Mealer Jr., and best friend, Charlene Forshier.

Nancy tended bar for 25 years at the Lamplighter, Greer Lincoln, the Alibi and the I&I Steakhouse all in Danville.  She also tended bar at the Golden Triangle and the Neptune both of Virginia Beach and the 2500 Club in West Palm Beach, FL. She later went to work for Olan Mills Portrait Studios as a Sales Professional for 19 year until her retirement.

Nancy will be sadly missed by her family and many dear friends.  Nancy loved to cook for family and friends and was there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.

A Graveside Service will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery on Monday May 20, 2019 at 1:00 PM with Donald Patterson officiating. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
