Merel Ilene (Blythe) Robertson

     Merel Ilene Robertson, 95, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:36pm, Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville, IL.  On January 17, 1927, she was born in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Byron and Lula Mae {Browning} Blythe.
     On July 1, 1950, Ilene was united in marriage to Claude Robertson in Georgetown, IL.  He will miss her dearly along with her son, Chuck Robertson of Georgetown, her grandchildren, Renee (Ted) Ames of Indiana & Patricia Evers of Tennessee, and her great grandchildren, Tim, Samantha, Nicholas, Alyssa, & Jacob.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Jackie; four sisters; and one brother.
     Ilene worked for Steel Grip earlier in life while raising her family.  She was a longtime member of Georgetown Church of the Nazarene where she held several positions within the Church.  Most notably, she taught Sunday School for more than 60 years.  She was the caring person who coordinated funeral dinners for members, and she loved to share her love of the Lord with many.  Ilene was known to have a great sense of humor and who also acquired French fries that she never ordered for herself from others around her.  She enjoyed crafting and reading, as well as spending time with her family.
     A celebration of Ilene’s life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E. West St. Georgetown, Illinois 61846 with Pastor Gary Farris officiating.  Visitation will be held 10:00am to 11:00am on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be given in her name to Georgetown Church of the Nazarene.  Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
