Mary Jane Wilkinson

Danville – Mary Jane Wilkinson, 90, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in Danville, IL.  She was born on October 6, 1929 to Fred W. and Alma H. (Jarling) Anders in Danville, IL.  Mary Jane married Ralph C. Wilkinson on November 29, 1953 in Danville, IL. 

Mary Jane is survived by her children Randall Wilkinson and Susan (Don) DeMoss; grandchildren Michael, Kim (RJ), Amanda (Michael), Colleen (Josh); great-grandchildren Lilly, Christopher, Zachary, Joseph, Rhylie, Lexie, Tabitha, and Kayden; sister Bette (Bob) Hall; numerous nieces and nephews; special friends Phylis Engle, Lucy Smith, and Kay Kevin.  She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers Richard and William Anders; sisters-in-law Maxine and Janet Anders.

Mary Jane attended Immanuel Lutheran Church and School.  She graduated from Danville High School, attended U of I Extension, and earned a BS degree in special education from Illinois State University in Bloomington.  She retired from District 118 in 1992.  Mary Jane enjoyed reading, Cubs baseball, needlework, crosswords, birds, and flowers.  She traveled to Europe and Hawaii. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020 from 4-7pm at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834.  Funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1930 N Bowman Ave., Danville, IL 61832.  Pastor Phillip Callahan will officiate.  Interment will be held at Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial donations may be made in Mary Jane’s name to Immanuel Lutheran School Library in celebration of her love of reading and life-long learning.  Please join Mary Jane’s family in sharing memories on her tribute wall at sunsetfuneralhome.com.
