Mary Linne Obituary

Mary Ann Linne, 90, born June 9, 1930 in Danville, Illinois, who resided in her later years on the North Carolina coast, passed away peacefully on a breezy, beautiful sunny afternoon on April 17, 2021 at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Mary married the love of her life, Perry Harlan Linne, on March 20, 1964.  Perry was a former Navy man who served on the U.S.S. Krishna, and was a long-time teacher of math at Danville High School.  Mary was a long-time employee of Interstate Printing in Danville.  Perry and Mary were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Danville.  Perry and Mary left Danville in the mid-1990’s to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, and grandsons in North Carolina.

Mary loved her years in North Carolina, spending days working in the yard, babysitting her grandsons, visiting with neighbors and all passers-by, and spending long-days on the covered front porch enjoying the ocean breeze while reading books, the bi-weekly Danville Commercial-News, and talking with friends and family on the phone.

Mary will be deeply missed by her loving daughter, Michele Ann Taylor, son-in-law, Gene Taylor, and her three college-educated grandsons that Mary loved and adored, Alex Taylor, Colin Taylor, and Cole Taylor, who cared for their grandmother immensely.

Mary is also survived by her nephew Clyde Evans, and his wife Sharlyn of West Des Moines, Iowa, and Shirley Linne, sister-in-law of Collierville, TN, and Julia Ann Grider, sister-in-law of Georgetown, IL.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Harlan, her brother Ralph Hawkins of Danville, and her sister and brother-in-law, Hazel and Dean Evans.
