Mary Jean (Freed) Holstein

     Mary Jean Holstein, 71, of Danville, passed at 5:42pm, Monday, April 19, 2021, at Accolade Health Care of Paxton on Pells, Paxton, IL.  She was born on April 10, 1950 in Danville, IL the daughter of E. Gene and Mary {Marrow} Freed.  She was married to Barry Holstein on June 7, 1975.  They later divorced.
     Mary is survived by her daughter, Kary (Kelli) Holstein VanDuyn; her grandson, Robert VanDuyn; her brother, Roger (Kathy) Freed; and her sister, Joy Freed.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Judy Marsh & Julie Lomax; and her stepdaughter, Donna Holstein Applebee.
     Mary’s life revolved around her family, with her grandson, Robert, closest to her.  Autumn was her favorite season and enjoyed flowers.  She adored going shopping as well as visiting rummage sales and making trips to the Covered Bridge Festival.  Mary enjoyed going camping and vacations especially when she went to Florida.  She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
     A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Westville, Illinois 414 S State St. Westville, Illinois 61883 with Ryan Harris officiating.  Visitation will be held from 10:00am to Noon on Saturday prior to her service at the funeral home.  As per her wishes, Mary will be accorded cremation rites after her services.  It is kindly requested that face masks be worn, and social distancing is practiced by attendees.  Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
