Marilyn Sue Burke

Danville – Marilyn Sue Burke, 79, of Danville, IL passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on June 4, 2021 at 5:20 AM.

Marilyn was born on July 2, 1941 the daughter of Harold William and Maxine (Hamilton) Calkins in Chicago, IL.  She was formerly married John Peter Burke.

Survivors include her daughter, Diane (Donald Scott) Burke of Danville, IL, her sons, John (Stacey) Burke of Aurora, IL, and David (Jamie) Burke of Palmetto, FL, eight grandchildren, Arial, Brittney, Steven, Sean, Sydni, Rivyr, Dalton and Gemma.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband, John, and one brother, Bill Calkins.

Marilyn was an avid Chicago Cubs Fan and in her younger days she enjoyed attending garage sales, was a State Champion Bowler and camping with her family. Later in life she enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting ceramics and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Danville, Illinois, 3940 N Vermilion St. Danville, Illinois 61834. Raymie Gordon will officiate. Inurnment will be in Rossville Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Illinois Wildlife Federation.
