Manuel Smith

Manuel “Manny” Smith 74, of Mahomet, IL. passed away at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. on Thursday, January 26, 2023. He was born on January 2nd, 1949 in Joliet, IL. the son of Arthur and Anne (Cabral) Smith. Manny moved to MA. at the age of seven where he attended Taunton Schools and remained until he entered The United States Army where he proudly served in Vietnam from 1968-1970. On October 17, 1970 he married his wife of 52 years Ruth (Conley) Smith, she survives.

He is also survived by his siblings; Louis (Helen) Smith of Taunton, MA., Jean Smith of Taunton, MA., Joseph Smith of Somerset, MA., John (Peachy) Smith of Taunton, MA. Children; Michael (Tina) Smith of Davenport, IA., Robert Smith of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren; Briana (Kyle) Reed of Champaign, IL., Nicole (Austin Wilson) Smith of Greer, SC., Alexandra Smith of Kansas City, MO., Amber Smith of Davenport, IA. and great grandson, Logan Wilson.

Manny loved the outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Taunton, MA. and in Rantoul, IL. retiring in 2004. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Smith and sister in law Kathy Smith.

A Celebration of his Life will be announced at a later date.
