Louella M. Edwards

Louella (Rellie) Marie Brown Edwards, 92, of Danville, IL passed away on April 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by family. She was born September 9, 1928, the daughter of Robert and Ethel Meeker Brown. She graduated from Bismarck High School.

She married the love of her life Jack Dale Edwards on December 26, 1946 in Kentucky. He passed away on January 9, 2013 after they walked side by side, hand in hand wrapped in love for 66 years.

Louella is survived by her daughter Nancy (Clay) Hicks; her son, Greg (Terri) Edwards; 5 grandchildren, Tony (Rita) Hicks, Sherrie (Steve) Edwards, Joshua (Trisha) Edwards, Jessica (Scott) Gillespie, Jodi (Danny) Ralston; step grandson, Shawn Hillard; 12 great grandchildren, Ethan, Camron, D.J., Teila, Dalton, Caleb, Ross, Kaitlyn, Addison, Dane, Rae Ellen and Evan; 5 great-great grandchildren, Ronnie, Buddy, Murphy, Maxine, and Colin.

She is preceded in death by her husband, parents; son, Michael G. Edwards; brothers, Verlon, Leland, Calvin, Darrell Brown, and sister, Corabelle Todd.

Louella loved living on her farm in the country where she would tend to her garden and roses, fish, mushroom hunt, and watch her hummingbirds. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing quilts, crocheting, working on jigsaw puzzles, and listening to Gaither Homecoming music. She adored her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She also loved being with her church family.

Louella was a faithful member of Old Union Church of Christ which is now known as CrossRoads Christian Church. She was a quiet, loving, compassionate and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful Christian. She will be deeply missed by all who were touched with her love.

A Celebration of Louella’s Life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at CrossRoads Christian Church 3613 N Vermilion Street, Danville, IL 61832 with Miles Clark officiating. Burial will be in Johnson Cemetery in Danville, IL. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 5PM to 7PM at CrossRoads Christian Church. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center 3940 N Vermilion St., Danville, Illinois 61834 is assisting the family with arrangements.
