Lola May (Hayman) Simmerman

     Lola May Simmerman, 89, of Covington, IN, passed away at 9:30pm, Monday, December 14, 2020, at The Waters of Covington.  She was born on January 12, 1931, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Lowell and Ruby {Martin} Hayman, both deceased.  She was united in marriage to Donald Simmerman on October 4, 1948 in Tucson, Arizona, until his passing on August 5, 2001.
     Lola is survived by her children, Donna (Leonard) Honaker, Sandra (Joe) Whitaker, & Linda Whitaker; her seven grandchildren, Kellie Walters, Becky Doss, Andy Whitaker, Samantha Fuller, Mathew Whitaker-Brooks, Tony Whitaker, & Anna Bowers; her 16 great grandchildren; and her siblings, Mary Royal, Art (Joy) Hayman, & Jim (Connie) Hayman.  She was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Simmerman; her son-in-law, Tim Whitaker; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her sister, Martha Kelley; and one brother, Donald Hayman.
     Lola graduated from Richland High School.  She worked as the Fountain County Assessor and worked for the Treasurer’s office for many years.  She trained as a pilot early in her life and used to fly to see her Mom & Dad.  Lola loved spending time with her friends and family.  Her memory will be remembered through her loving family and friends.
     A Public Visitation will be held 12:00pm to 2:00pm (EST), Friday, December 18, 2020, at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Covington, Indiana 420 3rd St. Covington, Indiana 47932 and a private family service will be held with Kevin Wildman officiating.  She will be laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery, Covington, IN.  Memorial donations may be given in her name to First Church of Christ or Covington Food Pantry or Covington Community Center.  Please join her family in sharing memories through her Tribute Wall at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
