Linda Michelle Griffet

   Linda Michelle (Shelly) Griffet, former tele-sales person and long-time resident of Champaign, IL, passed away unexpectedly on July 29th, 2021 at the age of 52. She passed, peacefully and painlessly, to go join her late mother and sister for morning coffee.

   Shelly is survived by her husband, Eric Rennert; her two daughters, Chelsea L. Rennert and Kayla M. Rennert; and her father, Michael “Butch” Griffet, as well as many friends, who she always considered family. She was preceded in death by her mother Linda L. Griffet (Johnson), and her younger sister, Shawna Griffet.

   Shelly was born in Urbana, IL on November 12, 1968. She attended Centennial High School (class of '86). A few years later, she met her husband, Eric on May 29th, 1989 (Memorial Day). They welcomed their first child (Chelsea) in 1990, and their second child (Kayla) in 2005. Shelly and Eric were married on September 30th, 2007. She brought so much joy to her family over the years. Her children were her life.

   Shelly was a very outgoing person, a no-nonsense lady who lit up the room with her big beautiful smile, and bright blue eyes. Meeting people and making new friends was always exciting to her. She was passionate about music, education, art, business, as well as social issues. Specifically, the rights of those with disabilities. 

   As a friend of Bill W., she participated in many local substance abuse support groups, in which she made many life-long friends.

   A great student in college, she made the Dean's List multiple times while studying for a degree in Social Sciences at Eastern Illinois University (2009-2011). She was planning on completing a Bachelor's degree.

   At Royal Publishing, Shelly consistently led the local office in sales and customer satisfaction. Whatever she put her mind to she succeeded, and usually excelled at.

   She was a believer in God, and is now with her family that has preceded her in death. She will be dearly missed by her friends, family, and everyone who knew her.
