Kellie Stine Obituary

Kellie Marie Stine, 19, of Urbana, IL passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Carle Foundation Hospital due to an acute recurrence of Myocarditis. She was born in Springfield, IL on December 16, 2004, the daughter of surviving parents Cecil Barton “Bart” Stine and Jennifer (Johnson) Stine of Monticello.

Kellie is survived by her older brother Nicholas Stine, and older sister Kristin (Stine) McClughen. She is also survived by many extended family members including but not limited to: her grandmother Diana Johnson, aunts Katie (Johnson) Stephenson, Liz (Johnson) Beaver, Linda (Wolfe) Stine, cousins Courtney (Adams) Todoschuk, Carly (Adams) Graham, Anne and Beth Stine, and uncle Bradley Stine.

She is preceded in death by her sister Emily Stine, grandfather Lawrence Stine, grandmother Linda Stine, and her grandfather Donald “Don” Johnson.

Kellie enjoyed listening to music, weightlifting, art, journaling, reading, volleyball, and spending time with all animals, friends, and family. At a young age, Kellie always had a keen eye for fashion and a true talent for music. She had the biggest heart and was a fiercely loyal friend. She played violin and baritone saxophone in school, and some of her fondest memories were of playing softball and volleyball with her teammates. She graduated high school on May 21, 2023 and attended Parkland Community College. In her more recent years, among her friends she was known as the group DJ and fashionista! Kellie has always been a very inclusive spirit who was happiest entertaining and living her life to the absolute fullest. In her words, “live every day like it’s your last.”

A Celebration of Kellie’s life will be held from 2pm to 5pm, with a sharing of memories at 4pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home in Mahomet (1102 Churchill Rd. Mahomet, IL 61853). Per her wishes and in honor of her vibrant spirit, we ask visitors to wear at least one article of yellow and refrain from typical black attire if able.
