Karen Juras Obituary

Karen Lynn Juras, 70, of Georgetown, passed away at 5:49pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville.  She was born on November 19, 1949, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of QL and Nora (Belle) Rouse, both deceased.  On December 2, 1967, she was united in marriage to Thomas Juras.  He will miss her dearly.

Karen will also be missed by:  her son, Anthony (Rachel) Juras of Franklin, IN; her brother, Quinten Rouse of Danville; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many special friends.  She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Betty Rouse.

Karen owned the hair salon, Klassic Kouffers.  She later worked for the Georgetown School District for 17 years as a librarian and was known as the “frog lady”.  She received the Golden Ruler Award for her dedicated service and retired from the School District in 2006.  She was known by many as a loving person who cared more for others, always putting family and friends first in her life.  She loved to sing and loved her dogs, Abby and Zeke.  She volunteered as a youth leader for Olivet Church of the Nazarene and the Danville First Church of the Nazarene where she also worked in their office for a while.  Karen was also known to never meet a stranger and kindly talked with everyone.  During the annual Holiday Gathering in Georgetown, everyone was quick to grab some of her highly sought-after holiday candy.  She will be forever remembered and loved by all whose lives she touched.

The family would like to thank the medical staff at Carle and OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center of Danville for their support and care they showed for Karen and her family.

A Memorial Celebration of Karen’s life will be held between 1:00pm and 4:00pm on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Georgetown, Illinois 200 E.
