Joseph D. Henderson, 79, passed away on November 27, 2021 in Sarasota, Florida. Joe was the son of Louis and Thelma Henderson of Covington, Indiana.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Susan and his equally beloved children, Tamara (Mike) Cox; Timothy (Ashlee) Henderson and grandchildren, Mitchell Cox; A.J. Cox, Dylan Miller Henderson and Brady Hollis Vogel; stepdaughter, Monica (Roger) Learey and family; and his brother, R. Michael Henderson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and son, Todd.
Joe was a graduate of Covington High School and honorably served in the Navy aboard the USS Haleakala. He pursued a career in Nursing Care Facility Management. Upon retirement Joe could be found pursuing his passions: golf, fishing, travel and all things family related. He was especially proud of his role assisting the Covington High School golf team as a coach. His grandchildren hung the moon in his eyes and brought him great joy.
He regularly attended West Liberty Church of Christ before moving to Florida, whereupon he attended the Church of the Holy Spirit. Joe’s faith was strong and his love for our Lord was true.
The family would like to thank the nurses and aids at Brookdale at Palmer Ranch in Sarasota, Florida for their compassionate care and kindness during his stay at that facility. Joe truly had a servant’s heart and a keen sense of humor. He will be missed.
